The 3rd Abu Dhabi Corporate Governance Conference “Corporate Governance… Beyond Regulatory Compliance” will explore the need for companies to move away from mere compliance practices into strategic CG approaches. It will be focused at educating the public about the strategic significance of CG and encouraging companies to go beyond compliance with local codes and unleash the power of implementing best practices.

The sessions will include a variety of topics that would shed the light on the current practices of corporate governance in the region and what could be done to move forward and adopt sustainable practices to mitigate against potential risks in our challenging times.

Session 1: Current State of Corporate Governance in the Region: This session will provide delegates with an overview of the recent corporate governance developments in the UAE and the region. Speakers from the capital market authorities, central bank and the executive councils will provide delegates with a brief on the latest developments in the listed companies, banks, SOE’s, etc…

Session 2: Towards Broader Applications of Corporate Governance - My Company is Compliant, Now What?: This session will discuss CG in the context of business sustainability, explain the difference between enterprise governance and corporate governance, define the concept of strategic governance and highlight the link between corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.

Session 3: Using corporate governance to create value: Corporate governance could be effectively used to enhance the value of the organization and help promote its long term strategic objectives. This session will help delegates understand how this could be achievable and what means and tools ought to be used to achieve this objective.
